How hard is hard?
The extreme hardness of Rado high tech materials guarantees durability and brilliance. The Vickers scale is used to indicate hardness: the higher a value, the greater the resistance to scratches. Rado materials commence at Vickers 1,200 – far higher than gold, steel or platinum. The top value of 10,000 is attributed only to natural diamonds and to the Rado high-tech diamond surface.
Rado quartz watches are equipped with top-quality Swiss batteries. Under normal conditions, a battery should last at least 30 months. The battery must be changed when the seconds hand starts to move in 4-second intervals (or when, on a multifunction watch, the digital display begins to blink). Battery exhaustion in a watch without a seconds hand becomes apparent only when the hands stop moving altogether. Battery changes should only be performed by an authorized Rado dealer or Service Center to ensure that only original parts are used and that your watch is properly tested for water resistance. A worn-out battery should be replaced immediately in order to reduce the risk of leakage and consequent damage to the movement.

This watch is powered by automatic movement which means the winding of the spring occurs automatically when the wearer moves his/her arm. However, it is recommended that you manually wind the watch at least once every two weeks. It is also important to adjust the time once a month as automatic movement can gain or lose a few minutes per month.

The Skeleton Two Tone boasts an incredible 46mm tonneau-shaped case with scalloped edges constructed of 316L surgical grade stainless steel, but the real attraction here is the skeleton mechanical self winding movement which can be seen through the large domed crystal, the propeller-style face plate and the luminous cigar-style hands. The dial features hydraulically embossed guilloche texturing and is complemented perfectly with a polished chakram-style bezel. At close glance you will notice the exquisite drape-sweep pattern embossed into the dial complements the sporty sleekness offered by the scalloped edges of the case. The globular crown with its black rubber equatorial ring is the final touch to the touch contributing to the frontal look of the Skeleton Two Tone. Designed for pilots and aircrews, the Breilting Emergency is an instrument watch with built in micro transmitter broadcasting on the 121.5 MHz aircraft emergency frequency. Following a crash or a forced landing, for example, the Emergency will send a signal on which rescuers can home in. The watch thus serves as a complement to the aircraft's own distress signaling equipment. The Emergency's transmitter is activated by unscrewing a protective cap and pulling the antenna out fully. It will then broadcast for 48 hours. Over flat terrain or calm seas, the transmitter's signal on the 121.5 MHz aircraft emergency frequency has a range of about 160 kilometers (100 miles), assuming the search aircraft is flying at 6,000 meters (20,000 ft.).
As of 2009, satellite transmitted distress signals will be picked up exclusively on the 406 MHz digital frequency offering enhanced compatibility with GPS or with aircraft Flight Management systems. Nonetheless, localization operations will continue to use the 121.5 MHz frequency, which in this specific context has may advantages over the 406 MHz frequency, particularly because it is more accurate and reliable in locating victims.
